We host a book club where members read a selected book and come together to discuss it through thoughtful questions and reflections on the themes and ideas in the story. In addition, guest presenters regularly join us to share topics they are passionate about, exposing members to a wide range of subjects and perspectives.

Our goal is to provide a well-rounded experience that supports learning, meaningful conversation, and community.

We meet on Fridays for two hours. Each hour focuses on a different activity or experience.

In addition to our regular meetings, we also organize social outings such as dinners, movies, bowling, live theater, music events, and other activities that many adults enjoy. These events help members build friendships and participate more fully in community life.

Yes. For safety reasons, participants should attend with their own staff member or support person. However, that person does not need to be a fluent communication partner.

Our team includes several members who are trained in different typing-based communication methods. They are available throughout the full two hours to support communication as needed.

Non-speaking individuals are people who are unable to rely on speech as their primary form of communication. Many non-speaking people communicate in other ways, including typing, pointing to letters, or using assistive communication devices.

Being non-speaking does not mean a person does not have thoughts, ideas, or a desire to communicate. Many non-speaking individuals express complex thoughts and perspectives when provided with reliable communication methods.

Participants may use a variety of typing-based communication methods, including Facilitated Communication (FC), Spellers Method, Spelling to Communicate (S2C), and Rapid Prompting Method (RPM).

Each person’s communication system is unique. Our program respects and supports the method that works best for each individual.

Our program is designed for non-speaking adults who communicate by typing or letter boards. Participants should be able to engage with group discussions and activities with the support of their communication method.
